They changed it to a universal (from region-based) stock back in 2005 IIRC

Look at it like this
100k-500k in storage at one time= farming most people get around 500k than buy what their looking for, not putting everyone in same boat as me but I see no point in hording mass gold I reach about 300k midrange and than blow it all on something LOL I have a problem with money burning a hole in my pockets AKA storage LoL. 500k-1mil is for OCD People who can not part with the money LOL any more than 1mil+ is EBAY IMHO because if your good at farming than you dont need to horde all the money because you know you can spend 2 hours and get your $ back |

I find that simply working on my Vanquisher or Guardian title will supply me 5k or so per area. Those plats go into cap sigs for my second Elite Skill Hunter title. I never manage to hoard cash, since I keep seeing "WTS [insert name of interesting item here]" and I can't help myself >.>

I did hero FFF(fast faction farming) and used the faction to get Urgoz scrolls. I sold the scrolls to the scroll trader and got 750g for each one. So for every 25 hero FFF runs, which gets 10k kurzick faction, I got 3.75k plus another 7.5k(trading 10k faction for 10 scrolls). Runs take about a minute plus there's the portal loading between, so I'd say about 11.25k every 35 minutes. I did this over and over again. The price the scroll traders paid for Urgoz scrolls went down steadily. Now you only get 100g per scroll. But I did a lotta Hero FFF at the right time and built a good income.
After buying Destroyer Cores and getting the Destroyer Gauntlets I still have 770 something K in my storage. Highest I reached was 888k, then got the Cores, Sup Vigor rune(i put sup vigor runes on my gloves), and other stuff. I'm trying to keep the amount of gold I have now consistent. I don't do Hero FFF much anymore because it's repetitive. It still pays good gold but the same amount gets repetitive and it feels like making minimum wage or something. 3.75k and anywhere from 1k to 1.4k more from Amber Chunks(Urgoz scrolls only yield you 100g now). I already get enough of that kind of thinking with the Mcjob(not at McDonalds but the type of job I have) I have in real life so I'm not having much fun doing FFF anymore. I now find myself doing ss/lb runs with PUG groups now for fun, money, and unid gold items even though the rate of income increase is less and I have the max titles already. But at least I'm killing stuff. I do Snowman cave runs too and now I've been doing Glint's Challenge. The Glint one is not too hard with the right group and I find it easy to sell Cloth Of The Brotherhoods for 3k each. I think the ninja type mask you get for trading 250 Superb Charr Carvings is the last armor related item I'd want to get. That, the doubt rep points thing this weekend, and hopefully there will be another Halloween event. Then I'll try to take it easy until Wintersday... Well then there's the bonus missions we get in November. So there is new material coming to GW afterall. Last edited by Linksys; Oct 11, 2007 at 02:59 PM // 14:59.. |

I concur with malko concerning vanquishing. 5k per area sounds about right, more if you get a lockpick or tome drop. I blow all my money on lockpicks, though. I probably would have more money if I didn't, but every once in a while I get the elite tome which gets me another 6-8k. Perfect or near perfect weapons I store until I can put the best mods on, then keep an eye open in Kamadan while buying keys. I can usually make one or two sells every third or fourth trip. Did really well last night, selling all my normal tomes and all but one elite, plus lining up a buyer for a weapon in storage. The night before, stood there for thirthy minutes for nada. Nevertheless, three days ago I could only afford to have 4 lockpicks in my inventory. Yesterday I finished the day with 26 and money in the bank. BTW, I don't get to play more than a couple of hours a day.

Ok, some general tips here.
- Play as much as possible - ID every white with a merchant value >= 50 before you merch and every blue/purple/gold - Play every area in HM as much as possible - Don't spend gold on things you need - Play several professions and have them support each other. Mostly swapping dropped decent weapons to other characters and drops for the Prophecies collectors armor. When done right, you have a increasing amount of gold each day. Next step: - Vanquishing (with some humans to speed things up) The things above have taken me from 100K to 500K in a couple of months. Next: - Farming (teamed or solo) This is how my guildies get their FoW and rare req9 weapons. After that, powertrading for the real huge amounts of gold. Or get lucky and receive a good minipet or rare gold weapon. |

Jos, quick question. Why do you ID whites? Is it because you salvage everything cheaper than 50g?

You people with your vanquishing must be lucky. I've never made more than 2.5k on a run in HM and it takes so long to do some areas that the plat/hour ratio is usually far worse than what I can do in GWEN.

I generally make 2-5k, depends on if I pick up all my drops or not.

Ctb, you may be right. Personally, I never had much luck in EotN, but I've been vanquishing areas that have minotaurs and nearly every single one either drops a tusk or 120g. Adds up very quick when there are more than 50 minotaurs plus nearly 100 other monsters. A quick run would be to go HM and just kill the minotaurs around Ice Tooth Cave. That should be pretty good plat/hr, especially if you can go with a smaller than 6-man team.

Another thing you can do is look at the prices of materials and farm for those. For some reason Scales and Plant Fibers went up in price quite a bit for a while. Keep an eye on the market price of common and rare crafting materials, find out where they drop and farm there.

I'll throw in there that I don't normally take humans with me in HM, just heroes and henches. If all goes well, it usually doesn't take too long, but if Claude is in the Crystal Desert, and he chooses to run away from a Sand Drake that's on him because he decided to cast Blood Ritual on someone inside the mob's aggro, thus drawing attention to himself, and then Claude stupidly aggros two different groups of Jade Scarab that promptly touch the whole team to death and DP everyone... well then it takes awhile.
Stupid Claude. Quote:

Yes, Claude is ftl
Only henchies worth using are the 'upgraded' ones in EoTN

I got my money when i first got into farming and running, E/Me smite runs when ecto were 9k and Droks running when they were about 4k. Got me about 500k then i accumulated the rest after HM with tomes and the like until drop rates fell off the board. IMO Ecto Farming and Droks running are still pretty good ways of making money and arent all that hard to start out in, i prefer using the E/Me Terra tank build myself. If you got GWEN get doing some dungeons with your guildies, its not even close to a fast way of making money but it'll build up over time, its fun as hell and builds up on those "grind" titles. Good luck with it! |

For example, one white armor that dropped had about 50g value, after ID it was 104. I have seen slightly higher values in the past. Average seems to be between 60 and 80g. When you ID, the value will never be less than the value. So you waste 3g max (I think) on each ID. In the end, ID-in nets gold. I set my breakpoint on 50g, since I play HM most of the time (un-IDed) drops there are always around that value anyway. So HM drops always get ID and NM only when above 50g. On lower valued drops the additional profit seems less. It could well be that it's worth ID-in above 45 or even 40, but I never tried that. The same is true for an un-IDed max gold. Those are around 50g, but after ID might be worth between 200 and 500 gold. |

Honestly just find a good area and farm.... once you can buy a high end item cheap, power trade as was said above. Its time consuming but not too difficult.
Also its not even slightly hard to get up to 100k just killing things and selling your lewts.. or find a green thats worth some cash and farm that. Or do slaver's groups or DoA. |

Most I've had in storage is 888k. I could have easily maxed it out at 1000k and I sure as hell am not an ebay-er.

I bought my FoW back when ecto was in the 12-14K range, and I've never touched ebay for anthing.
The concept of paying real world money for some pixels I can get just by playing the game is realy stupid. Most people have more a problem with spending than aquiring gold. If you can get your char and heros to a point where you really do not spend any money on them then your only expense is ID kits and Salvage kits. Far to many people spend their cash on dyes, ale, runes they use once then replace or equiping heros that they never use. And lets not forget all the weapons people buy, they start with the low end 1-20K blue/purple just to get the skin they like then when they have saved up enough they spend 20-100K just to get what they already have in gold and maybe bost a hp mod from 29 to 30 or drops a req from 10 to 9. |
